February...the birthday month

In our family, February could be called the month of birthdays! Layne starts off on the 7th, then Greg, then Elijah and then yours truly!

This year, Anna and Jamie were starting to move, so I offered to host Layne's birthday. My sweet grand daughter was turning 4! It was a beautiful day, the kids got to play outside.

The big 4 year old!

We had pizza and, of course, cake! Layne chose Minnie and Mickie Mouse for her Mimi made cake, and Minnie had to be wearing purple.

After eating and playing, the kids had fun with a pinata.

Nana and Grandaddy came, as well as Uncle John.

She loves to tease her big brother!

Jamie got into the festivities.

This year, due to an unfortunate mishap at the pool this summer, Elijah had to forgo his birthday party. We still celebrated my dear boy.

He had his birthday breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes with whip cream.

For his birthday cake he wanted a cookie cake that he could decorate himself.

He labeled it his "Spider Man cake"

Elijah is still very much into cars. He adores remote control cars and has a lot of specially designed lego cars. He has invented a contraption upstairs on the lego table, as  he is embraces his engineer skills. If I have to do anything, he will say, "Let the engineer take a look at it!" He is always repurposing things, which, although I recognize the value of it, it drives me nuts! There are always bits and pieces laying around, which formerly worked together to form some object. He has fixed the brakes on his bike twice.

This year, Elijah reached 50 pounds and was quite proud of himself. He hates to be called little! He is such a sensitive soul. All adults love him! He could talk to a sign post, if it would nod back and forth. He has such a talent for talking and getting along with others. I'm so proud of this little man! It will be fun to see God use Elijah's gift of gab and inventive nature for His good!

And lastly, it was my birthday bringing up the rear.

Abbey and Elijah brought me breakfast in bed.

Now, that's a beautiful sight to wake up to!

John bought me my very favorite cake.

We had gone out to lunch at my favorite Chinese restaurant a few days before.

February = birthdays!

Day 4-Epcot

All things must eventually come to an end. For our last day at Disney, we hit the only park we hadn't gone to, Epcot.

Test track was the hit for all of us. We went on it 4 times.

The only rain we had for our entire vacation happened while we were in a movie about George Washington and other presidents. We came out and the rain had stopped, but people were still wearing rain gear.

We did enjoy the ocean area.

We walked and walked. This is what my phone recorded at the end of the day. Neither kids uttered a peep about all the walking. They were troopers!

The highlight of the day for me was the light show. We were standing near the handicapped area and the attendant there was very chatty. She talked at length with us about how one goes about getting a job at Disney World. She was from Canada and worked in the Canandian area.

We stopped and ate a morning snack in France and watched an incredible acrobatic show

John and Abbey's depiction of their future world

We arrived at Epcot around 10 am and left at 11:15 pm. We were pooped!

Completely spent, but oh boy, what a way to go!!

The next morning we left pretty early and headed for Beth's house, as John had a meeting in Charlotte. It was such a wonderful trip. I really felt like it was a gift from God! I'm so very thankful for all the blessings of this trip and the great memories that were made during it!
