2019 Summer Swim Season

Another year of swimming for Quail Hollow Amberjacks is under our belts. Abbey and Elijah both swam, I was the TSA Rep, and John was the starter...a family affair for sure. They as a team did very well, winning the division and only loosing one meet. Abbey won high point for her age group.

Banquet

Abbey enjoyed competing at the TSA championship meet and swimming for MOR. (here she is getting ready for her birthday swim in Sept.)

When not swimming, we took advantage of the free game a day bowling program. Abbey went with her MOR friends.

Elijah and Abbey went with the Millers.

Love, love, love my summers!

Here we grow again, July 9th, 2019

Beth and Anna told us back in June and July that our family is going to grow by 2! Beth is due in November and Anna is due in January. Needless to say, we were overjoyed with this news!

On July 28th, Anna had a gender reveal at our house. She had an ultrasound and they tech put the results in an envelope, which Anna took to the bakery. They would make the icing pink for a girl and blue for a boy. Anna swore she heard the technician say, "Well, now SHE'S moving", so she was convinced it was a boy.

Her good friend, Elizabeth and her family came to give their support.

Jamie's mom and my mom were there.

The time came for the cake to be cut....It's a boy! To say Anna was shocked would be an understatement! She was totally flabbergasted!

The icing is blue....

Still in disbelief, Anna wanted to watch the ultrasound video to confirm.

Beth had, a few weeks earlier , gone for an ultrasound and found out that she was also expecting a boy. Our first and second grandsons!!!

We are so very excited!

July 4th, 2019

July 4th was the last time Daniel and Sara would see us before their big move to West Virginia. Everyone except for Anna and Jamie's family went to the beach for the holiday.

We had great times together. We played on the beach and in the house. We discovered a couple of really fun games that we played with our phones and the TV. It was a great time!

Abbey and Elijah had friends come over...

Abbey kept in touch with her friends back at home.

Daniel and Sara are possibly going in a new direction...

Daniel had been looking at other job opportunities that would advance his career. He had not really found anything, so he figured he'd be in Asheville another year.....But God....

brought an opportunity to his door. The University of West Virginia were looking an assistant swim coach. One of the coaches at UGA encouraged Daniel to apply. He did, then they had a phone interview and WVU promptly wanted to fly Daniel and Sara to Morgantown, WV! Their heads were spinning. The job would be a step up for Daniel.

I knew the writing was on the wall, when Sara contacted the hospital and they set up an interview for her on the same day.

Here they are the night before they left for WV. John, Jr. came to see them, too.

They went to WVU and came back and spent the night with us. The interview went really well, in fact, Sara was offered a job at the hospital!

We went to church together, and of course, the sermon spoke right to them. I knew then that my boy and my future daughter in law would be moving to WV. Both he and Sara thought the same thing. They shared some tears that day, as they both love Asheville, and WV is a whole lot further from home.

He did get offered the job and moved the beginning of August. It's been a big adjustment for both of them. They aren't overly fond of Morgantown, but over the past 5 months they have grown and are beginning to get their bearings. They both know God has them where he has them for a reason. It will be fun to see how he moves in their lives.

(This is written in January, as I'm woefully behind in my documenting)

Vietnam Baby

Anna and the girls came for a visit. We bought the grand daughters a Vietnamese hat, super annoying playing pigs and a woven purse.  Lyra is decked out in her new garb!
