2019 Field Trips

We did not go on quite as many field trips as the previous year. But we still got out quite a bit. I previously posted about Old Salem and the trip there.

On February 13 we joined a Homeschoolers garden club for a presentation on Birds of Prey. The many brought two birds which we got to see up close, a falcon and an owl.

Elijah won the door prize of a bird feeder

We joined this same group on 5/13 at the NC State Arboretum for a program on Pollinators.

We joined Anna and the girls for two field trips.
The first was at the Charlotte Hawkins Brown memorial close to Greensboro. Charlotte Hawkins Brown started the first school for Black kids. It was Homeschool Day and they had several games set up to help the kids understand what it was like for black kids during the early 1900's

We also met Anna and the girls for Homeschool Day at Alamance Battleground

We joined our homeschool group on two field trips...
The National Weather Station...

and the waste water treatment plant...

 Dirty water

Cleaning with ultraviolet light
 Clean water

Yep, that's what you think that is being removed from the new, incoming water
and it certainly did have a smell
 Water microbes under a microscope
 Before and after water

Such a big perk of homeschooling is field trips!
